Educational Relevance

Educational relevance is the bridge between a student’s needs and the school-based services provided through the IEP.

In school-based physical therapy, the question is not simply whether a child has a physical need. The question is whether that need affects access, participation, safety, independence, or function within the school environment.

This distinction can be confusing for families because school-based PT is not the same as outpatient or medical-model PT.
