Service Rationale

A service rationale explains why a service, support, recommendation, or change is being proposed.

In school-based practice, the rationale should connect the student’s needs to educational participation and explain why a particular support makes sense. The rationale helps caregivers and team members understand the reasoning behind a decision.

Without a clear rationale, a decision may look arbitrary, confusing, or purely procedural.
